If there’s any downside to pedal-assist electric bikes, it is weight. Most e-bikes weigh over 50 pounds, and even more of them are cumbersome to ride and handle with any load. The new Orbea Optima E50 e-bike changes that completely. The Optima E40 features a simple step-through design, powerful Ebikemotion drive unit, and low weight to ensure your bike is easy, fun, and powerful.

The Optima E50 is based around the Ebikemotion X35 hub-based drive unit, the same as in the Orbea Gain e-bike line. The battery, controller, and drive unit weigh in at just over 7 pounds, ensuring that the Optima E50 is light and nimble. Ebikemotion’s X35 drive unit is exceptionally smooth and quiet, and quieter than just about everything from Bosch and Shimano. Additionally, its step-thru design means that it’s easy to get on an off the bike, with or without a load.

Orbea has made the Optima E40 to be a comfortable cruiser or the ideal companion for your daily commute. It comes equipped with SKS Edge fenders to keep road debris off of you and your drivetrain, Spanniga lights front and rear, and wide 700 x 50c tires that are comfortable, durable, and pucture-resistant. Shimano hydraulic disc brakes are powerful, reliable, and easy to use. Optima E50 is available in three sizes (small-large), in two colorways.
