2014 Trek Allant WSD - Women's

Potholes, taxis, trucks, busy paths; nothing stands in the way of Trek's Allant WSD. It's ready to roll any time with its lightweight aluminum frame, fast 700c wheels and handy rear rack. The upright riding position and stable ride mean top comfort and excellent handling that makes it easy to navigate around cracked pavement and errant vehicles. Plus, the Shimano 21-speed drivetrain offers easy pedaling, while the powerful linear-pull brakes offer excellent stopping power. You even get fenders so you can ride in comfort in all weather conditions.

    Fun, comfortable, smooth, and stylish!

    By Susan J

    Comments:

My main bike is my road bike, but I wanted a second bike for casual riding around with the kids, to the park, coffee shop, farmers market, etc. with regular shoes I can walk in when I'm not doing serious miles. The 21 speed Allant is perfect! Knowing I would be pulling a kid trailer some of the time (and that we have some hilly streets), I didn't want a heavy cruiser with only 1-3 speeds, but I didn't want a sporty fitness bike or hybrid either because they lack the vintage styling. I love the classic styling, fenders, etc. The included front rack/basket mount is very useful - you can zip-tie on any old basket you may already have and you don't necessarily need to buy a bike-specific basket. This bike is just plain fun to ride! It is smooth-rolling and took me back to my childhood, sailing down the street on my banana seat bike. Of course it's heavier than my road bike but it's not bad and it's easy to ride. Shifting is smooth and easy. One of the selling points that helped me decide on this one vs. other brands is the trigger style shifters instead of the twist-grip kind. Effortless shifting! I also love the saddle - perfectly comfortable plus has nice details and a classic look. I love the cream color paired with the brown saddle. Such a classic and classy-looking bike, and such a fun ride!

      Comments:

Got this for my wife who is not very fit but has just started biking. After a day, she was not satisfied with the geometry so we swapped out the stock handlebar for a cruiser bar. Now she loves it. It is very stable, built well, looks awesome, particularly with a basket on the front and a rack on the back for going to the farmer's market. Gearing is excellent for its intended use. All of my bikes are Treks so I'm glad I got this for her. Our LBS/Trek retailer has been very responsive and always gives great mechanical and customer service, so I couldn't be happier with that.

My old bike was a mountain bike I used for all the riding I did. I recently walked into the bike shop and asked what kind of bike I should get. The terrific salesperson said, "This one." I said OK and took it for a spin. Wow! What a bike! I haven't had a cruiser in years and this is the fabulous updated version! Light, maneuverable, comfortable and sweet! I am so in love with this bike - I've begun to commute on it! Thank you!

        Comments:

I just completed the 2012 90km Sydney to Wollongong bicycle ride to raise money for people with multiple sclerosis (MS) with my 8-month-old Allant! Incredible performance throughout the whole ride! The only con in this case is the bike itself is slightly heavier, despite the fact it may not be built for long ride. Normally, I ride to work, pretty happy with it's stylish outlook, and got approached by other riders! Smooth cornering, comfortable seat. Gear shifting is a bit awkward, could be just my bike.

        Comments:

I bought this bike THIS WEEK and love it so much I am jumping straight into a review. What can I say? I love it! I use it for commuting and city riding. It is great to look at, a nice mesh of classic and contemporary style, and rides nicely. My city is pretty hilly, and it handles well. The only real weakness with this bike is that it's a bit heavy. I take it up a few flights of stairs at the end of the day, and as a small person (5'2), it's a bit of a feat. BUT at least I can strength train by lifting it up!I don't think anyone shorter than myself could ride this bike-- I have the smaller frame, and the seat is as low as it goes. Anyone taller would likely find it a good fit. Nice upright position. Definitely not built for speed, but I get where I'm going in good time.I am ECSTATIC to own this bike.

I got this bike for my birthday in April and have put 1200 miles on it in the last 4 months. The bike has held up super well and it's very comfortable for my 20 mile daily commute. It looks great, is super comfortable, and has held up well.

Great bike. Added metal wire basket to the front & love the little bell on the handle bars. I use it all the time while riding.

        Comments:

I got this bike from my kids as a Mother's Day present so I could use it to run errands around town. I love the color, style and seating position when I ride. The downsides are that it is extremely heavy compared to my last Cannondale bike, and it would be very nice if there was a protective piece to keep the chain from being exposed and getting your clothes greasy. I live in a city condo, and we need to hang our bikes from hooks on the ceiling, and this bike is so heavy, I can't lift it up and get it on the hook. I would pay more for this style of bike if it could be constructed out of a lighter material. Overall, a great and cute bike, but a couple downsides that keep it from getting five stars.

I am relatively new to cycling. I live in bike-friendly Portland Oregon and with gas prices hovering around $4.20 a gallon, this seemed like the perfect time & place to invest in a bike. I selected the Allant after two months of researching and test driving. Quite simply, it's the perfect urban bike for a non-competitive cyclist who wants reliable alternative transportation. Very sturdy. Feminine without being too girly. I purchased a basket for the included front rack and it completes the look and practicality wonderfully! You simply cannot go wrong with this bike.
