Trek Madone 4.5 C

Trek's Madone 4 Series pairs race-level performance and technology with ride-all-day compliance. The light, lean 400-series OCLV carbon frameset boasts a stiff, beefy BB90 bottom bracket for optimal power transfer and a tapered E2 head tube so you can slice through corners with pinpoint precision. The 4 Series also features Trek's DuoTrap technology built into the frame so you can view speed, cadence and more from your ANT+ wireless device (sold separately) all while having the cleanest, most high tech bike around. Shimano's components include a slick-shifting 20-speed Ultegra drivetrain with the perfect gears to spin up the climbs and powerful 105 brakes for complete control on the way back down. This able roadster also sports a sweet line-up of Bontrager's carbon and aluminum components, and a supportive Bontrager saddle, too.

      Comments:

I was torn between this model and the Trek Domane 4.7 C. But after a couple of test rides with negligible differences between the two in terms of comfort and handling, it came down to the price and looks. For me, the Modane 4.5 C won out. Out on the road, this bike performs admirably - incredibly light and immediate response makes it the best performing bike I've ever owned. The one thing I would say is that if you're not used to such a light bike, then spend some time getting used to the feel of it. Even small movements while riding will affect the handling of the bike. Its also a little bumpy over railroad tracks. Nonetheless, I can't say enough good things about this cycle. I've been riding it nearly every day and am training for my first of several century rides. I've gotten quite a few compliments from riders and other people on the looks and quality of the bike too.

I love this bike. All my previous rides were metal frames, carbon is a huge upgrade, wish I had bought years ago. Bike is stable, very responsive, crisp shifts. Great bargain.

        Comments:

Coming from a mountain bike background I wasn't certain if I wanted to make the road plunge or how I would do it. I'm delighted I found the Madone 4.5. Solid Construction, lightweight carbon, silent as a cotton ball hitting the ground. I had planned to get a road bike and was gifted the extra money to go above an entry level bike; so glad with the choice. Will upgrade cranks to shave some weight.

              Comments:

After losing 40 lbs riding daily on my old mountain bike, I decided to upgrade to a road bike. For months I went back and forth; 2 series, 1 series, 3 series and 4 series. Finally I talked to a very knowledgable person at a local shop, he got me convinced the 4 series was the way to go. I wanted the good frame to build different components around. Ive decided I need lighter rims and lower gears. The 30 in the rear is great, but I have weak legs due to a disabilty, so Im probably going to change to a 36, with a SHimano long cage derailleur, while upgrading the shifters to Shimano as well. I may change everything to Shimano, undecided. I have plans to do an epic long distance journey next Spring, so every little bit of help I can get from rims, gears, etc is crucial. Ive had this for exactly 7 weeks today, I put 735 miles on it so far and tomorrow is my first tune up. I love it, I accomplish more every week. Besides white handlebar tape that gets dirty, I have no complaints about what I bought. Again, knowing I had intentions to upgrade components, I think I chose the right bike for the cost.
